The Influence
My journey in the wine world began at nineteen while working as a retail associate at Blomidon Estate Winery in Canning, Nova Scotia. At the time I was completing an undergraduate degree in history at Acadia University, which helped stoke my curiosity about the history of wine making. What was meant to be temporary help with the fall harvest and sales season quickly became something more. It did not take long to realize there was something special about the industry. No one arrives at a winery angry. People come curious, excited, and ready to discover something new. Working there also taught me something fundamental. At its heart, wine is an agricultural product. A winery is a farm, and every bottle reflects a place, a season, and the people behind it. From the beginning, I believed these products should be approachable and enjoyed among friends, not reserved only for formal or intimidating settings.

Wine & Spirit Education
Encouraged by a vineyard manager to pursue specialized training, I moved to Ontario to complete a Graduate Certificate in Wine Business Management at Niagara College. During that time, I worked at Vineland Estate Winery in Jordan. There I learned that you never know who your customer will be. I also learned that enthusiasm and knowledge should be shared with everyone. My time working in their cheese shop confirmed an important truth. Loving great wine often leads to loving great food.

The Alberta Dream
After graduation I joined Alberta-based importer Pure Global Imports as a sales representative. While there I earned my WSET Level 3 certification while traveling extensively throughout Alberta and internationally. From small diners to highly acclaimed mountain restaurants, I experienced firsthand how diverse and adventurous the world of wine can be.

Family Roots
I moved to Fort McMurray in 2020 for the love of my husband Devan and our shared desire to build a life and grow our family. Having visited the city many times on sales trips, I was always drawn to its wild character and the adventurous, welcoming people who call it home. Since moving here and starting my business, I have had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people. I have built strong connections and grown both my family and my roots in the community.
Current
Brick & Mortar
Outside of the shop, I love spending time outdoors with my dog and now my children. I catch glimpses of the incredible wildlife around us and bring my passion for wine, spirits, and beer into this rustic northern setting. Approaching forty, I have spent two decades immersed in wine culture. I am excited to bring that experience to our city. I hope you will visit Outpost to discover something new and enjoy a different kind of tasting experience.
